First we are going to talk about the Fellowship of the Rings.  As we all know the movie starts with Gandalf heading for the Shire.  Frodo greets him by saying he is late.  Gandalf helps with Bilbo's birthday party where Bilbo puts on the ring.  The ring causes him to disappear.  While invisible he walks home and doesn't think Gandalf knows where he is.  Soon Gandalf gets Bilbo to give him the ring. 

Having gotten the ring from Bilbo Gandalf gives it to Frodo and eventually gets him to set of to Rivendell.  He leaves with Samwise Gamgee  and the pair run into Peregrin Took and Meriadoc Brandybuck
